Fall Break at the Zoo

Did you grow together as a family over Fall Break?

Because not every break from school should be rushing children off to a destination…………. just for the sake of rushing children off to a destination.

My favorite part of Fall Break is always the BREAK part!

We LOVE school breaks at our house! Ask any of my kids what my favorite day of the whole year is and they won’t hesitate to say “The Last Day of School, because then Mommy gets to be with us all summer!”

And they are RIGHT!

I love having my children home with me and not having to worry about keeping them on someone else’s schedule.

On days off, we value being able to sleep in a little and NOT plan ahead.

We love waking up slowly, enjoying Daddy’s amazing French Toast, and then leisurely deciding what we want to do that day as a family.

Our Family Motto is “We Work Hard, Then Play Hard” so the first day of fall break we decided what back yard projects we wanted to work on.

We divided up the responsibilities and kept the kids focused as we worked on our landscaping projects.

They kept getting distracted by bugs…

However, we got done and the backyard looks amazingly better!

Our kids will always be able to own their contributions to our backyard landscaping projects.

No matter how much kids like to whine about helping, they ALWAYS appreciate the good feeling they get when they accomplish something great.

We cultivate that love of accomplishment and value it in our family, as many do.

The second day of Fall Break we decided to go to the Zoo.

The kids helped clean out the van and pack their lunches and we were off.

Anyone that knows our family knows how much we LOVE visiting every zoo we can, wherever we travel.

We love to see the gorgeous animals, especially when they are interacting with each other.

Who isn’t fascinated with elephants spraying water, sea lions and polar bears swimming majestically past the windows, tigers roaring, or gorillas chasing each other just inches away?

We love seeing the animals, learning about them, and keeping up to date with the new babies born at our local zoo.

We go to the zoo year round and fall is a fun time to go!

The fall foliage makes a stunning backdrop for visitors.

The weather is perfect in autumn and more animals are up moving around because it’s not too hot.

The Halloween decorations were fun to see, as always!

And every time we go to the zoo our kids HAVE to race across the huge bridge!

It is always one of the highlights of the trip, as our competitive kids try to outrun each other.

We give the younger ones a head start…..

We loved our leisurely day at the zoo on Fall Break.

Our kids have a lot of memories of going to the zoo together.

We began taking our eldest when she was just a baby and have consistently gone several times a year since then.

We have so many pictures of our time at the zoo as the kids have grown up.

We love learning about and seeing the magnificent animals there.

It is a place where we learn and grow TOGETHER!

The zoo is one of our favorite places to be together as a family!

WHERE IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO GROW TOGETHER AS A FAMILY?
