Small Home Survival

We are a family of eight living in a 1250 square foot home.

We love our small and simple home. It is well designed with a floor plan that flows well and has lots of natural light that comes in through well-placed windows. I have been told by neighbors it was designed by students of the local university over sixty years ago; how cool is that?! They were wise to make the bedrooms a little smaller and the living area a little larger.

Even the kids’ friends have commented on how much they like how our house’s layout! One of the reasons they like it is that they can run in one big circle through the rooms and hallways so indoor tag is a huge hit around here, especially when it’s poor weather outdoors.

With eight of us in here, we understand the challenges of living in a smaller space and have found ways to conquer clutter, teach children the value of contributing to the household, and keep everyday life running smoothly.

A few things have been a little drastic, like Removing Most of the Closet Doors in our home.

A few things have taken a lot of time to organize, like our Clothing Inventory System.

However, most things we do simply require us to be Consistent.
